Joining the SfEP
Page owner: Membership director
If you are a former member or associate rejoining the SfEP, you may not need to pay the usual processing fee(s). Please telephone the office before submitting an application form, so we can check whether this applies to you.
Before applying to join at a higher level, please check the requirements. Marshalling the evidence can take time: it might be better to join at Entry-Level (you don't have to tell anybody!) and take time to polish your application.
If you're studying full-time on a relevant course, you can join the SfEP as a 'student Entry-Level Member' without having to pay the usual processing fee.
You must be taking a specifically publishing-related course or hoping to use your degree subject – for example, law, science, languages – as a specialism in editorial work. (Please note that individuals taking one-day, part-time or distance-learning courses do not qualify, and if your course is self-structured please supply full details.)
On the online joining form, you'll be asked to give the name of the institution at which you're studying and your graduation year. You'll have to pay the processing fee but, once your course has been approved as qualifying, the fee will be reimbursed.
Ready to join?
To join the SfEP, simply fill in one of our online application forms.
Paying with a credit card attracts a £3 handling charge. There's no handling charge when paying with a debit card. Subscriptions are not refundable.
