About the 2016 conference

The 27th SfEP conference will be held at Aston University, Birmingham, on 10–12 September 2016.

The conference capital of the UK and home to Europe’s largest public library, Birmingham has excellent road, rail and air connections, and attracts over 30 million visitors every year. Aston University offers hotel-style accommodation just across a courtyard from a purpose-built conference centre, set in a green, landscaped campus only a mile from Birmingham city centre.

The conference is an excellent opportunity to develop your professional knowledge, find out about developments in the publishing industry, and network and socialise with like-minded colleagues. Highlights of the programme this year include Susan Greenberg, senior lecturer at the University of Roehampton and author of Editors Talk about Editing, as Whitcombe lecturer; workshops and seminars on a range of topics, from using macros to analyse a text, to the basics of page design, to managing or mentoring other editors; and a closing lecture by the linguist and editor – and now honorary president of the SfEP – David Crystal. We'll also be trying out some new ideas in the form of ‘live’ sessions and ‘speed’ sessions – links to full summaries of these and all other sessions can be found on the right of this page.

Conference booking is now closed.

Please email the conference director if you have any comments or queries.
