Negotiating effectively
St Catherine's College, Oxford
10 September 2008
Tutor: Sue Bennett
If you answer 'Yes' to some or all of these, you would probably benefit from this course. If you cannot negotiate a fair rate, reasonable deadlines and realistic expenses, being technically competent – or even brilliant – as an editor, proofreader or project manager is unlikely to be enough.
Effective negotiation is as much a part of your business as all the other aspects. This one-day course will give you some core skills and chances to practise them to help balance what can feel like an uneven position between freelances and those who use their services and between employees and employers.
The tutor, Sue Bennett, spent over 20 years in publishing, has been giving courses on personal effectiveness for some years and formerly ran her own company, Training Matters. She now works full-time at the University of Warwick.
The workshop will be held on Wednesday 10 September 2008 at St Catherine's College, Manor Road, Oxford, 9.30am to 4.30pm. The cost will be:
Booking priority will be given to people attending the SfEP annual conference, who will also be eligible for a £10 discount on the course fee.
If you wish to attend, please fill in and send the booking form, which has further details about the course.
