SfEP/EASE reciprocal membership
For a trial period of one year, the SfEP Council has agreed a reciprocal arrangement with the European Association of Science Editors (EASE). In 2008, if you are a member/associate of both organisations, you are entitled to a discount on both your subscriptions.
The SfEP subscription for SfEP members/associates who are also members of EASE will now be:
- associates: £57 (from £85)
- ordinary members: £64 (£95)
- advanced members: £67 (£100).
The EASE subscription for EASE members who also belong to the SfEP will now be £47 (from £70).
Membership of EASE is open to anyone interested in science editing. According to Sheila Evered, secretary of EASE, 'Among the advantages of joining, each member receives a copy of our coveted Science Editors' Handbook, together with a subscription to our quarterly journal European Science Editing.'
NB: This arrangement is dependent on enough members from both societies taking it up. A decision on whether it will continue will be taken before the 2009 membership renewal period.
EASE will be administering the scheme, collecting both EASE and SfEP subscriptions from joint members and then passing on the SfEP part to the Society in a lump sum.
