About Ian Howe
Ian joined the SfEP in 2004 after deciding to train as a freelance proofreader and copy-editor, having previously followed a career in marketing where he had discovered an affinity for working with words. He has a degree in English Language and Literature and is a tutor on the Publishing Training Centre’s Basic Proofreading by Distance Learning course.
With a wide range of experience on topics from translated crime novels, law textbooks and theology to derelict mine buildings, Ian has more recently worked with a number of first-time and self-publishing authors, which has provided a different perspective on the relationship between editor and client.
Based in north-west Cumbria, Ian tries to balance work commitments with bracing walks along the Solway coast.
