SfEP subscriptions and fees

These are the annual subscriptions for individual members in 2016/17.

Processing fees

Joining

Everyone joining the SfEP must pay a processing fee to cover the work needed to set up your record and send out the joining pack:

  • UK applicants: £32
  • applicants in other countries: £37

The only exceptions to paying this fee are: full-time students on relevant degree or postgraduate courses, usually in publishing; and Corporate Subscribers.

Upgrading

Everyone entering at or upgrading to Professional or Advanced Professional Membership must pay a processing fee of £40, to cover the work of the Admissions Panel. If your application is not successful, and you reapply within one year, the fee for the reapplication will be £25.50.

From 1 March 2016, everyone entering at or upgrading to Intermediate Membership must pay a processing fee of £25, to cover the work of the Admissions Panel.

The subscription year runs from 1 March to 28 February. Subscriptions are not refundable.

Regardless of the grade at which you apply to join, in your first year you pay the subscription for an Entry-Level Member. At the SfEP's annual renewal on 1 March, you will be asked to pay the subscription for the grade you hold on 28 February. Provisional Professional or Provisional Advanced Professional Members will pay the Professional or Advanced Professional subscription.

If you become a member (not a Friend) between 1 September and 31 December inclusive, you pay 50% of the Entry-Level subscription, plus the processing fee. You will then pay the full rate if you renew on 1 March.

If you become a member (not a Friend) between 1 January and 28/29 February inclusive, you pay the Entry-Level subscription, plus the processing fee. You will not be asked to renew on 1 March, but on the following 1 March, i.e. you will enjoy up to 14 months' membership for 12 months' subscription.

Founder members of the SfEP receive a £5 reduction on their annual subscription.
