Annual subscriptions and fees

Page owner: Membership director

Whatever grade you apply to join at, during your first year you will pay the subscription for an Entry-Level Member. This simplifies the choice for you (choose the grade you have the skills for) and simplifies administration for us.

Please note that our subscription year runs from 1 March to 28 February. If you join on 1 March, your subscription buys you 12 months' membership; if you join on 15 June it buys you just over 8 months' membership. Working this way simplifies administration for us so helps keep subscription rates down. You are asked to renew your subscription from 1 March every year, unless 2. applies to you:

  1. If you join the Society between 1 September and 31 December inclusive, you pay 50% of the Entry-Level subscription, plus the processing fee. You will then be asked to renew (for a full year) on 1 March.
  2. If you join the Society between 1 January and 28/29 February inclusive, you pay the Entry-Level subscription that will be applicable from 1 March that year, plus the processing fee. You will not be asked to renew on 1 March that year, but on the following 1 March instead, i.e. you will enjoy up to 14 months' membership for 12 months' subscription.
  3. These deals are only offered when you first join the Society. If you are a former member thinking of rejoining, it makes best financial sense to do so from 1 March.

When you renew your subscription (on 1 March), you will be asked to pay the subscription for the grade you hold. Provisional Professional or provisional Advanced Professional Members will pay the Professional or Advanced Professional subscription. You should bear this in mind if applying to upgrade. This leaflet tells you more about all of the above.

The following are the annual subscriptions for individual members in 2018/19 (effective from 1 March 2018). Founder members of the SfEP receive a £5 reduction on their annual subscription.

Everyone entering at or upgrading to Intermediate Membership must pay a processing fee of £35, to cover the work of the Admissions Panel.

Please note: subscriptions are not refundable.
