About the local group
The local group meets once every two months, from 11am to 12.30pm, at the King’s Arms in Oxford (directly opposite what is the new Weston Library, on the corner of Broad Street, Holywell Street and Parks Road). We meet on successive days of the week, from Monday through to Friday, to make it easier for some members to come along.
At most meetings we have a speaker; and in the past we have had publishers, writers and indexers, and members have shared their own skills. We also use the opportunity to exchange news, ask each other questions and generally catch up.
We are a friendly group, with long-standing, more recent and brand-new members mixing quite happily. Many focus on academic and educational publishing, though we have a wide range of experience and expertise to share. We welcome all members, including from neighbouring groups such as Cotswolds or Berkshire.
If you are unable to join us in person, there is always the option of staying in touch through our local group online forum. We are trying to make sure there are notes and news, so have a look!
A detailed introduction to the local group, including feedback from one of its members on how valuable it proved to them when they were starting out, can be found on the SfEP blog.
Details of upcoming meetings can be found in the Calendar of events.
