SfEP Directory of Editorial Services
Internet director Nancy Duin
Directory manager Rod Cuff
Founded in 1988, the Society for Editors and Proofreaders has two main aims:
- to encourage high standards of editing and proofreading through training and qualifications
- to uphold the professional status of editors and proofreaders.
If you are looking for a professional editor, proofreader or project manager, the online SfEP Directory of Editorial Services provides contact information for more than 440 SfEP members plus details of the skills, subjects and services they offer. A search via the box below will enable you to pinpoint quickly and easily those with the attributes you require.
Who is included?
Only ordinary and advanced members can have entries in the Directory. SfEP associates cannot have entries. (See Structure for more information.)
Members who have attained accredited or registered status will include that information in their entries (see SfEP qualifications for more information).
Subjects offered
In members' entries, the subjects that they offer are listed in a particular way:
- Subjects in bold type are those in which a member specializes.
- Subjects in parentheses are sub-specialisms of the preceding broader subject.
- If 'general' appears within parentheses, it indicates that the member offers the whole of the broader subject and has a special interest in the listed sub-specialisms.
- If 'general' does not appear, the member offers only the sub-specialisms, not the whole of the broader subject.
Contacting entrants
Directory entries include all possible methods of contacting a member: full postal and email addresses and telephone, mobile and fax numbers. Some entrants also provide URLs for their own websites where you can often find out more about the services they offer.
If you have difficulty making contact with any entrant, please contact the SfEP Office for help.
Feedback
The directory evolves constantly through feedback both from its users and from members of the SfEP. Please send suggestions for improvements to the internet director.
Disclaimers
- The SfEP Directory of Editorial Services should be considered a point of first contact. There is insufficient space in an entry to describe any individual's skills and abilities fully, and prospective clients must satisfy themselves that members are capable of the work on offer.
- The members themselves are responsible for their own entries and the SfEP has not made any attempt to vet them. The Society therefore cannot be held responsible for the quality of work of any member listed in the Directory.
- Inclusion in the Directory as a freelance does not necessarily mean that the member is self-employed as defined by the HM Revenue & Customs and the Department for Work and Pensions.
Associates can advertise their skills and availability to the SfEP's membership through Associates Available
