About Vanessa Plaister
In 2003, Vanessa started her publishing career in-house for the (then) Institute of Financial Services. When she relocated to Somerset a few years later to #livethedream, with a view of Glastonbury Tor, SfEP membership and an entry in the Directory generated her first freelance job within weeks.
Since then, Vanessa has worked with local/national businesses, independent authors and international publishing houses, among others, and on substance spanning property marketing material, through a nuclear laundry’s 80-document procedural portfolio, to a 1,250,000-wd authority on civil costs.
Vanessa became an Advanced (now Advanced Professional) Member in 2011.
Sometimes, Vanessa squeezes a bit of swing dancing into her schedule; at other times, she bears the bruises of metal mosh pits. She is passionate about equalities issues personally, politically and professionally, and about the power of language not only to express, but also to shape our lived experiences.
Vanessa’s degree is in English and American Literature—and she remains disproportionately proud of having convinced her tutor (eminent Shakespearean scholar and son of a renowned RSC actor) that he ought not to assume that Isabella simply marries the Duke after play’s end...
