About Lucy Metzger
In the 1980s Lucy proofread medical insurance forms. From 1990 she was a copyeditor at Macmillan in London. She headed the proof collation department at the New Grove Dictionary of Opera and then at the Dictionary of Art, later becoming its managing editor.
In 1995 she moved to Scotland and went freelance; she paused for ten years (babies), then picked up freelancing again. Lucy is based in Glasgow. She copyedits and proofreads, mostly academic books and textbooks, and is a mentor and trainer for the CIEP. She is an amateur cellist and singer. Her degree is in French.
