About the   local group

The Edinburgh local group meets monthly on a Thursday evening or a Tuesday afternoon, with a break during the summer. All members and Friends of the CIEP, as well as non-members thinking about joining, are welcome to come along.

Meetings are usually held in a bar in central Edinburgh. Each meeting has a main topic for discussion such as managing finances, editing theses and dissertations, setting fees and using macros. Tuesday meetings usually begin at 1.30pm with lunch available from 12.30pm, and Thursday meetings begin at 7.30pm with time at the end for everyone to mingle and chat over a drink. We are a sociable and welcoming bunch and we also enjoy getting together for our annual Christmas lunch and New Year dinner.

While meetings are a great way to get to know other members of our local editing community, not everyone can make it along on a regular basis and the Edinburgh group forum is also a useful platform for raising editorial questions and sharing views. We welcome input from everyone, whether at meetings or through the local forum, on the group’s future development, topics for discussion, visits and social gatherings, etc.
