Toronto – Wednesday 6 November 2019

This one-day mini-conference was held at 33 Prince Arthur Avenue in Toronto, and was organised by Maya Berger, Kelly Lamb, Janet MacMillan and Rachel Small of the Toronto SfEP local group.

The international, jam-packed event featured speakers from the United Kingdom (Paul Beverley), the United States (Erin Brenner and Amy Schneider) and Canada (Heather Ebbs and Jennifer Glossop). Malini Devadas from Australia also attended the conference and presented a separate workshop in the afternoon before the conference.

This conference was a members’ benefit for SfEP members in Canada and the United States, although all SfEP members were welcome, as were non-SfEP members (who were added to a waiting list). The cost of attendance was CAN$150 for members and CAN$250 for non-members (with a 15% discount for members of certain other editing-related organisations) and included six sessions plus a Q&A session at the end, breakfast, lunch, snacks and beverages.

The programme sessions covered an array of topics, including macros, editing efficiently, fiction editing, templates and indexing and a Q&A discussion with all the speakers. Delegates received 2 SfEP upgrade points, or 1 SfEP upgrade point if they had attended a previous SfEP conference.

The workshop

The pre-conference workshop was held the day before the main mini-conference, on Tuesday 5 November, and the cost was CAN$100 for members and CAN$150 for non-members (with a 15% discount for members of certain other editing-related organisations) and included a three-hour session, snacks and beverages.
